PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING THE FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS (DANCE, ENGLISH SPEECH & DRAMA AND MUSIC)
FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS 2020
It is with deep regret that the Executive Council of the Jersey Eisteddfod has reached the conclusion that the Dance, English Speech & Drama and Music Sections of the Festival of the Performing Arts scheduled to take place between the 6th and the 28th of November must be cancelled.
Unfortunately, because of the notice that we must give to the operators of venues and to our Adjudicators - virtually all of whom have to travel to the Island - the decision made is not one that can be postponed any longer.
Although the Government of Jersey has allowed a certain relaxation in the regulations relating to the coronavirus pandemic, there are still rules and advice concerning “social distancing” with every prospect that these will continue for some months to come.
Many of our classes are for groups, both small and large, of competitors - duologues, ensembles, choirs, dance groups and the like. For all our classes we encourage the involvement of the families and friends of the candidates. Any rules requiring “social distancing” will prevent this.
However, we urge all our potential competitors to continue with their studies and practice. Every cloud has a silver lining and, in this case, it is the chance to develop the artistic talents that lie within us all.
