The Jersey Eisteddfod is delighted to announce the launch of the Jersey Eisteddfod Valerie Guy Bursary 2025/2026, a funding initiative that will provide financial assistance to support artistic and creative talent in Jersey.

This Bursary has been made possible thanks to the generous bequests and legacies from the late Mrs. Valerie Todd, affectionately known across the Island as Miss Guy. Her contribution has allowed us to create this Bursary to help individuals further their artistic or performing arts development.

Whether your passion is for dance, music, drama, languages, visual arts, or any other discipline celebrated by the Jersey Eisteddfod, this Bursary is here to help you take the next step on your journey.

    • Individual Award Amounts: Between £100 and £1,000

    • Eligible Expenses: The Bursary can cover a variety of expenses including tuition, travel, course fees, books, equipment, and more – anything that will help you develop your skills in your chosen discipline.

    • Recipients can apply for financial assistance towards a course in Jersey or abroad, provided that it falls under one of the Festival of the Creative Arts or Festival of the Performing Arts categories.

  • Personal development in the arts, including costs such as travel, tuition, books, equipment.

  • The Bursary is open to anyone who has competed in the Jersey Eisteddfod in the year of application. There are no age restrictions, and applicants must be residents of Jersey at the time of applying.

  • Applications must be submitted by 30th April 2026 of the year of application.
    Late applications will not be accepted.

  • The Bursary is open to competitors involved in any of the following sections of the Jersey Eisteddfod:

    • Festival of the Creative Arts:

      • Adult & Youth Arts & Crafts

      • Handwriting & Calligraphy

      • Needlework & Textile Arts

      • Floral Art

      • Photography

      • Primary Schools Arts & Crafts

      • Secondary Art

    • Festival of the Performing Arts:

      • Dance

      • English Speech & Drama

      • Music

      • French

      • Jèrriais

      • Modern Languages

  • As part of receiving the Bursary, successful applicants will have the opportunity to become Jersey Eisteddfod Ambassadors. In this role, recipients will share their progress and achievements with the community, serving as an inspiration to others in Jersey’s artistic world.

Festival Sections:

Creative Arts:
Arts & Crafts (Adult & Youth, Primary, Secondary), Handwriting & Calligraphy, Needlework & Textile Art, Floral Art and Photography.

Performing Arts:
Music, Dance, English Speech & Drama, French, Jèrriais and Modern Languages.

Important Conditions:

  • Applicants should indicate how they wish to use the Bursary.

  • Funding must be used within the following year.

  • Successful applicants will be invited to serve as Jersey Eisteddfod Ambassadors and report on their activities.

  • Changes to the use of the Bursary must be reported to the General Administrator, Jersey Eisteddfod.

  • We reserve the right to seek a report from the course tutor should the applicant apply for a course over a number of terms.

Applicants may only submit one application a year, but can reapply in subsequent years.
